mai : The character mai(“each and every″)is the first character of the word “Mainichi″(“every day”),and this particula calligraphic representation of mai, which is the familiar logo of the Mainichi Shodo Association, comes from the draft of an epitaph written by the Chinese general Wang Chien (Yan-Zhenqing)for his niece who died in the An Lu-shan Rebellion in 758.
It was written by him at the age of 49.
